new ways to mentor in 2027
This year, mentees can choose between two development tracks: a one-to-one mentoring experience tailored to individual goals, or a facilitated small-group cohort focused on professional development topics. This year's topics include:
- Building Teams
- Resilience and Sustainability
- AI in the Workplace
- Listening: Facilitated by a Certified Listening Professional (CLP)
- Navigating the School of Medicine
- Career Advancement in Research
- Navigating UW Careers
- Change Management: Book review of "Switch: How to Change Things When Change is Hard" by Chip Heath & Dan Heath

Requirements / Commitments
NEW! Expanded Mentor Eligibility
No minimum years of experience required, so more staff can participate as mentors.
- Commitment to developing future leaders at all levels within the UW SOM
- Willingness to share your experiences and advice with your mentee as is relevant to their professional and/or personal growth
- Commitment to spend at least one (1) hour once per month with your mentee, either in person or virtually
